There are generally two types of beans you'll encounter in a grocery store's coffee aisle: Arabica and Robusta.
Arabica beans tend to be more expensive, but that bump in price gets you a fantastic acidity taste with undertones of fruit and berries. Robusta beans, on the other hand, usually have a brasher flavor and nutty aftertaste, plus they pack twice the caffeine of Arabica beans. But since they're easier to grow, Robusta beans tend to be less expensive.
